2005 Nell Steedsman's Awards

The Guild of Canadian Weavers Nell Steedsman's Award honours excellence in quality of handweaving. The Award is offered by the Guild of Canadian Weavers for work that has been entered in a Regional Juried Exhibition that includes weaving. Awards were made during 2005 to the following recipients:

Janice Griffiths for Canadian Colours Figured Damask Tapestry, presented at The Association of Northwest Weavers' Guilds Conference, Tacoma, Wahington, August 2005.
Susie Reinink for Vest with Curling Stones presented at Stepping Stones, Ontario Handweavers & Spinners Conference, Kingston, Ontario, May 2005.
Marguerite Gingras for Scarf Duo Using One Warp Spring Bloom and Autumn Glow in 32 shaft double weave presented a L'Association de Tisserands du Quebec Conference, St. Leonard-de-Portneuf, Quebec, May 2005.
Quoting from the award guidelines: "The Nell Steedsman's Award, a very prestigious award, will be granted to the Weaver in honour of work of the highest calibre." With Nell Steedsman's recent death, it is encouraging that work is being produced that meets these qualifications. Congratulations to all!
